6 Bangin' Breakfast Spots Siargao

There's just something special about a nice breakfast when you're on holiday. Although I generally skip the morning meal at home, when I'm on vacation I'm always researching the best breakfast places to enjoy. Not only will you get fueled up for a long day of activities but it also just sets a nice, calm pace for the rest of the day. So for this reason I've compiled a list of best breakfast restaurants in Siargao, often enjoyed by us personally. The criteria is strict of course: must have great coffee, pleasing atmosphere & vibes, and be reasonably priced for what you get. So without further ado, here are the places I go for breakfast or brunch in General Luna on a very regular basis.

White Beard Cafe

For a cafe to be this busy when it's so hidden you know it must be good! Located away from Tourism Road, this cafe in the middle of General Luna town has virtually no foot traffic yet manages to stay packed at all times. I warn you, it can be hard to get a table at times! However, I absolutely insist you try it. The coffee is top-notch, the waffles & French toast exquisite, and the vibe is laid-back and friendly. Try White Beard and find out why this secret gem is a favorite among Siargao's local expat community.

My order: Hungarian sausage & scrambled eggs with French toast + Cloud 9 cold brew.

Lunares Cafe

Located conveniently on Tourism Road this Italian owned cafe specializes in fresh-baked goods such as their muffins, cookies, croissants, small cakes & pastries. The croissants always sell out by 9 or 10am so make sure to go early! They also offer a selection of sandwiches on focaccia bread, salads, and a great granola fruit bowl. It's right across the street from Fat Lips Surf Shop so you can grab a coffee or breakfast when you're renting boards or visiting us at the shop! Also Lunares is a great place for afternoon tea and the vegan banana bread and vegan chocolate mouse are to die for!

My order: 'Tim Style' croissant with cotto ham, emmental cheese, lettuce, and cucumber + iced latte.

Siargao Corner Cafe

This ever-popular breakfast spot has recently undergone a massive expansion. Despite this, they've retained their relaxed & cosy vibes. They've also retained their incredibly low prices making this one of the best value breakfasts around. The average breakfast is around 180pesos (3.25USD). If you love their coffee you can always take a bag with you as they have their own house blend for sale in the cafe. Besides their expansive breakfast menu they've also recently added lunch / dinner items too so try then anytime of day or night! Insiders tip: The Omelette sandwich is a secret recipe that the owner brought back from his travels to Thailand.

My order: Omelette sandwich (add bacon) + Iced caramel latte

Kalipay Restaurant

Perhaps the newest spot on this list, Kalipay has come out swinging with some big hits in the breakfast department. Lucky for us, it's still easy to find a seat as it's not yet as well-known as other places on this list. They also have free Starlink Wi-Fi making this the perfect place to catch-up on your emails while you sip a latte. The menu is a little upscale with a touch of European flair as with the Spanish Omelette, Mediterranean Eggs, and Truffled Scrambled Eggs. There's also plenty of healthy options such as Chia Pudding Bowls, Homemade Granola, and Bircher Muesli. To round out the breakfast menu they also have a great selection of fancy grilled cheese sandwiches and waffles with toppings.

My order: Either the Spanish Omelette or the Chia Pudding Bowl + Iced Latte or fresh orange juice.

Greenhouse Resort

The cafe at Greenhouse made some serious waves when it first opened and is still a favorite among the local crowd in Siargao. They were the first ones to do breakfasts with a flair, reminding you of the cafes in Bali. Their focus on quality ingredients & presentation leaves the food equal parts tasty and Instagrammable. Try the O.G Eggs Benedict or 2.0 Barrel City to see what I mean. They've also got a huge breakfast burrito and comfy classics such as mango pancakes, chia pudding, and coconut milk porridge. While you're waiting for you food you can also check out Kudo Surf Shop. The shop is attached to the restaurant with their in-house Kudo Surf brand as well as many international & local surf brands.

My order: Same Same but Different + Coconut Cold Brew

Green Waves Cafe

A hole-in-the-wall cafe just as you enter the town of General Luna, Green Waves is often packed full of people and can be hard to secure a table. But drive by and if there's an open table take it! The secret is that their food is really reasonably priced for the quality. This unassuming cafe hits where a lot of cafes often miss. Everything is just good. There's really no other way to say it so just try it for yourself. Green Waves also works as a great spot for lunch or dinner.

My order: Hungarian sausage & scrambled eggs with wheat toast and extra bacon + Iced matcha.

The Cat & Gun

Finally a nice restaurant, bar, and cafe in the village of Catagnan! The Cat & Gun specializes in gourmet coffee as well as their many varieties of breakfast bagels. Try the sweet & spicy bagel with their homemade chili jam, cream cheese, and bacon. It's a winner for sure. A lot of the bagel toppings can also be served in a bowl over rice because as the locals say, no rice no power! The chic atmosphere will make you think you're in a first-class city while enjoying the village vibes of Siargao. They also play most sporting events on their big screen TVs. A popular spot for socializing in the evening the Cat & Gun also makes for the perfect breakfast spot before or after a stoked surf session in Cloud 9!

My order: Balls Out Breaky + Dirty Matcha
