Kurvada

As a carinderia style restaurant, the dishes are pre-cooked and you simply point at the items you want as they're loaded up onto your plate. Despite being a cheap carinderia, this restaurant offers a surprising variety in their high quality dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. Typical dishes include pastas, stir fry, grilled chicken or chicken wings, grilled fish, curries, veggie patties, spring rolls, and more. Although they do have a couple of meat dishes the restaurant is very friendly to vegetarians, vegans, and pescatarians as a lot of the dishes are meat-free. Quick, cheap, and tasty, what's not to love about Kurvada?

Price: Cheap

Region: Local & international

Good for: Vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarians. Travelers on a budget. When you're hungry or in a hurry.

Annattos Barbecue

Filipinos love BBQ and this small bbq shop on Tourism Road has earned a reputation for being the best among residents of Siargao. Here you'll find simple fare such a pork sticks, chicken legs or breasts, chicken intestines, hot dogs, and skewered vegetables without the overly sweet sauce a lot of local places use. They also have some great sides like Kinilaw (Filipino ceviche), pomelo salad, and other daily specials. If you're a meat lover I definitely recommend trying the pork ribs!

Price: Cheapish, not as cheap as some other local BBQs though.

Nestled in the village of Catagnan, CFC serves as a quick and delicious lunch or dinner spot or an afternoon beer place for the local expats to gather. They have a great selection of chicken burgers including my favorites; the Hawaiian Burger and the Korean Burger. They also have a great Chicken Ceasar Salad, fried chicken (a favorite among the Filipinos), fantastic French Fries, and much more. No visit to Siargao is complete without a visit to good ol' Catagnan Fried Chicken!

Since reopening after the typhoon, La Carinderia has focused on their delicious hand-made pastas and the restaurant is now better than ever. In fact, I eat here more than I eat anywhere else in Siargao. Their pastas such as the Seafood pasta, Spaghetti Bolognaise, and Lasagna are impossible to beat. The seafood hotpot (soup) is brimming with fresh fish, squid, and shrimp. Their tiramisu will take you back to the old country! La Carinderia also has a lovely selection of wines & cocktails to whet your appetite. The vibe is classy yet relaxed & friendly and this is one of our favorite places for a romantic date. The restaurant does get busy so avoid peak times or make a reservation in advance.

Warung Restaurant @ Siargao Island Villas

Honestly the first time I went to Bali I was disappointed. Yup. After eating Warung's Indonesian food for years I was excited to go to Bali and try the 'real' Indonesian food... only to find nothing in Bali tasted as good as the food at Warung right here in Siargao. This restaurant came about because the owner's nanny was Indonesian and cooked such amazing food at home that they decided to give her a restaurant of her own. Warung was an instant hit! With traditional dishes such as nasi goreng, beef rendang, mie goreng, and more I promise you won't find better food in Indonesia itself. So now you can now skip that trip to Indo! Siargao really does have it all.

Price: Average for a meal in Siargao

Region: Indonesian although they do also offer traditional Western foods.

Good for: People craving nasi goreng, beef rendang, or other delicacies they had on a trip to Indo. People who haven't had a chance to try Indonesian food before. It's so good!!

Smoothies, smoothy bowls, coffee, power balls, and much more await you, all absolutely picture-perfect with unobstructed views of the famous Cloud 9. Now beat that!

Price: Well this hipster stuff is always a bit more expensive, but worth it for the quality of ingredients.

Finally! A nice place to eat for those staying across Sunset Bridge. This Hawaiian-themed restaurant is in Santa Fe which is great for people staying in the area or only a 10 minute ride from General Luna along a beautiful stretch of road next to the ocean. The food is hearty, delicious, and unique in Siargao. I love all their dishes including the baked scallops, Siracha honey wings, Kani salad, coconut crusted shrimp, and of course their most famous dish; the crispy pork sisig. In fact, my Filipino wife agrees it's the best sisig in town! As a bonus, the kids also love it and it's a great place for a family meal.

Marketed as a sports bar it serves a wide array of beer & cocktails in a laid-back lounge atmosphere with large-screen TVs showing all the current sporting events. However, the true secret is that Cat & Gun is also one of Siargao's best coffee shops. Fantastic beans, expert barista, and a coffee machine that probably cost more than your car. For food, they have a good selection of bagels with different fillings for breakfast and for lunch & dinner they serve mini (slider) burgers and fries. Choose from the battered fish, parmesan chicken, pulled pork, or battered shrimp burgers.
